Dear Newlyweds

Dear Newlyweds,

There is some advice I would like to give you.

You are still young and growing yourselves.  Always look to each other to help you navigate your path through this life.  Make sure you talk to each other about your hopes, dreams, worries, and fears.  Grow together as you continue to grow individually.

"You complete me."  is a terrible way to live.  It sounds nice on the surface, but if you think about it, it means that you are not already complete. Make sure you are striving to grow as individuals.

Give me MANY grandchildren :-) (but not just yet)

Be a team.  Take turns being the leader.

Laugh every day.  Do not take things too seriously.  There just aren't that many things that are all that important.

When you find yourself getting annoyed, upset, angry with each other, Stop. Breathe. Think. You always have the other one's best interests in mind.  Know that the reverse is also true.

Remember that people make mistakes.  They forget things.  They say things that don't come out right.  Have a forgiving spirit.

Remember to say, "I love you" EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. even when you want to just scream.  Especially then.

Never take each other for granted.

When you have to be apart, think if your parting words would be the last thing you wanted to say.

Search for and continue to find joy in being together.

I wish you a long and happy marriage.

Love,

Mom

P.S.  Grandchildren (just saying...)

My Son Is Married!

The Newlyweds
Just this past weekend, I gained a new daughter.  She married my oldest son.

Because, it was the day before Halloween, there were several people in costume.  My personal favorite was the guest dressed as Darth Maul from Star Wars.

He even had a light saber battle with another one of the guests.  He shaved his head just so he could apply the makeup.

I got to splurge and get myself a new outfit and jewelry.  I talked so much about my 'pumpkin suit' that people I work with thought I was actually wearing a pumpkin costume.

See, I am not really a pumpkin!
It was a really great day. I am a very proud and happy mama.  I am so proud of the man my son has turned out to be.  I am so happy to welcome his new wife into our family as my daughter.  She is a wonderfully sweet girl. They obviously love each other very much.

What more could you wish for your child?
